Kids' Counselling
I am a firm believer to 'go with where my client is at' whether I am working with a child, couple or adult. When counselling children and young people, age & stage of development is always at the forefront of my mind as well as providing your child with a safe and supportive environment where they feel comfortable.

Therapeutic support is mainly 'play based' when working with younger children. I focus on emotions, firstly to help your child become aware of their feelings (emotions) then to put a name to them (emotions). This process builds emotional literacy. Once a child has emotional literacy, then they are more able to understand how their emotions manifest in their behaviour as well as learning how to self-regulate.

For older children, emotions also play an integral part in our discussions and we start to 'unpack' how these emotions interplay with their behaviour so that they can become aware that they have choice in their decisions and reactions.
Depending on the age of your child, session times may vary however the usual time is 50 minutes
Please note that by law, both parents must consent to your child receiving counselling up until
the age of 16.

Children's counselling sessions are available in person in Brighton East and Bentleigh East. Counselling is also possible via Telehealth.
